Tomorrow is Election Day; Every Man Should Vote.

Saturday is election day. The first time that the people of Jasper county have ever had an opportunity to meet face to face the question. “Shall jthere be licensed saloons in Jasper county?” We are of the opinion that a great majority of the people in this county will disregard their own interests of a financial kind, if indeed they would be able to figure out that the result could in any manner affect them, and look the s&loon and liquor question offer very 6earchingjy and ask themselves whether there is any possible good in the business and whether during the years Upon years that it has held sway any actual good has ever come of it to any person. We believe that every voter shoi Id do this and that every one should figure over his own experiences and his observations and see if he can not think «f seme person of his own acquaintance who was sent to an untimely grave because he was a victim of the liquor habit. Probably if he is thorougfi in his search of his own observations he can recall within the city of Rensselaer a murder or two directly due to, liquor; probably he can • recall the downfall of a talented young man of perhaps of a score of them, probably he can recall that several of RSMselafir’B prominent young men struggled for years under the yoke of the drink habit and that some gave up the fight while others took treatment and overcome the demon; probably every one in the county can think of a home with ~a good mother and promising children wrecked by the husband and father’s love for drink and the associations of the saloon; probably all will know of underfed children, of poorly clothed wives, of poorly heated homes, of tearful and broken-hearted mothers, and that the cause can be traced to the licensed saloon for the most part, and to the habit of drink altogether.
