No More of the Wood Children Taken Sick.

A letter was received by the Republican from Geo. Wood, of Mt. Vernon, S. Dak., Friday and this Saturday morning relatives here received another letter. Both state that the other two children escaped the sickness, spinal meningitis, that was responsible for -the death of the two. Mr. Wood described the suffering and death of his children in a very pathetic manner. Mrs. Bruce Porter, who had gone to the Wood home and was quarantined with the family, assisted them in the kindest way, and they said they did not see how they could have gotten through without her v She was permitted to go to her home last Monday and on next Monday, April 26th, the quarantine is to. be raised on the house, and then George expects to be able to start at his work. In telling of the funerals, he said that they could have uo minister, hut that Mr. Porter read a passage of scripture and offered a prayer. Of course, the money that was made up here had not reached them when the letter was written and George and family will doubtless be greatly surprised at the generosity exhibited by his- former townspeople when he receives the liberal draft.
