WET BLUFF FAILS IN WHITE COUNTY.
Judge Wason Dissolves the Injunction and the Election WOl Be Held As Planned. According to the Monticello Journal the effort made by the saloon forces of White county to prevent the election taking place Monday, April 26th, failed signally, and was an apparent effort to bluff apd bluster and cause a little trouble with no prospect of preventing the election. Judge Wason heard the argument of the attorneys Thursday and withheld. his opinion until Friday morning. He then dismissed the temporary injunction granted earlier In the week and cleared the way fox' the election. The Journal says: “All recognize Judge Reynolds as an able jurist and pleader with strong powers as an organizer, and A. K, Sills, Jr., surprised even his friends When be got into the heat of his argument by his good work as a pleader, but they were on the wrong side of the case and were shooting wide of the mark in much of their talk. Messrs. Palmer & Carr and Carey held strictly to the questions at direct lSßue, and proved conclusively in the minds of the greater part of the audience that the action of Hills and his attorneys, all of whom quite likely are being urged on by brewery interests of the state, had but very little foundation. “All the actions of the commissioners and the election board were held regular. The fact of Ellis and his backers trying to block the election has been possibly one of the best things that could have happened for the anti-saloon interests, as it has aroused to action a body of the people who were somewhat apathetic over the question,, and were inclined to think it would hardly be necessary for them to go to the polls, as the county would go "dry" anyhow Monday, they will be at the polls and will file their protest against the saloon. Will you go with them?”
