Frederick J. Stockslck.
Frederick J. Stockslck, son of John and Henrietta Stockslck, was born in St. Louis, Mo., March 16, 1846, and died at Rensselaer, Ind., April 18, 1909? at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 2 days. He grew to manhood in his native city. September 2, 1864, he enlisted for one year or during the war in Co. I of the 40th regiment of the Missouri infantry, and continued in the service until after the close of the war and was honorably discharged Aug. 8, 1865. He subsequently enlisted in the regular army and served for three years, from Nov. 30,. 1867, to Nov. 4, 1870, in battery H of the 3rd regiment of artillery under Capt. R. Ransom. December 25, 1878, he was united in marriage to Miss Alice Calwell, in Highland county, Ohio. To this union nine children were born, seven daughters and two sons, of whom six daughters and one son survive, as follows: Mrs. Ella Bloomster, of Paxton, Ill.; Mrs. Sarah Beecher, of Newton county, Ind.; and Miss Matilda, Wm., Ray, Bertha, Anna and Mabel Stockslck, of Rensselaer. In March, 1879, Mr. Stockslck and his young wife settled In Ford county, 111., and remained there until the fall of 1895, when they came to this county and settled on a farm near Rensselaer. It was eight years ago they removed to Rensselaer and have resided her ever since.
There remain of his father’s family Mrs. Richey Klemmle, Mrs. Louise Thuener and Wm. Stockslck, all of St. Louis.
