Trip To South Dakota To Visit Eight Grandsons.
Mrs. H. I. Adams left this Wednesday morning for Mitchell, S. Dak., to visit her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Sayler and her husband and their eight sons. Mr. Sayler and family moved to Mitchell about three years ago and this is Mrs. Adams’ first visit there, and they are not expecting her. A few days ago they received word that Marlon, the five year old, had fallen from a wagon and broken his left leg just above the ankle. On March 25th another child was born which the parents have named Elvin Edwin, and the grandmother will find plenty to do in assisting in the care of the grandsons. She will be absent a month or more.
Have you received a letter yet about raisin day in California? April 30th has been set by California raisin growers as a day for the booming of the raisin business and residents of that state are writing letters to their old friends in the eastern states asking them to eat raisins on that day and as many days after that as they can. The object is to create a demand for raisins all over the country. The Republican received a box from Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Porter, of Reedley, recently, and also a letter and several newspaper clippings explaining the effort to get people to eat raisins. The box that was* received by us was not laid away until April 30th, however, for the raisins were so delicious that they were devoured the first day they came. It will be an easy matter for Rensselaer people to help our California frienda by using raisins as an article of food on April 30th. They are fine for pies, puddings, etc. Buy a box for use on that day.
