EX-SENATOR DAVID TURPIE PASSES AWAY WEDNESDAY.

Aged Former Senator Dies of Neuralgia of the Heart at His In- . dlanapolls Home. David Turpie, three times a United States Senator from Indiana and one of the most brilliant pubic men this state has produced, died Wednesday morning at his home in Indianapolis. Angina pectoris (netfFalgla of the heart) was the cause of death. For several years he has been in falling health, but his death came suddenly. Many Rensselaer people will remember the political career of David Turpie, how he ran against Colfax for congress on three different occasions and suffered defeat each time,* ho< he defeated Benjamin Harrison for ths United States senate, and of the man* debates he held throughout the state ( as a champion of democracy. Senator Turpie was one of the great men of Indiana, and his death Is mourned by all who knew him, his good qualities and his greatness being admired and praised without regard to political differences. Senator Turpie was in his 81st year. His funeral will take place at Indianapolis Friday.
