Engine On Lake Shore Is Sinking In the Mire.

Valparaiso Messenger. A locomotive which was wrecked yesterday on the Lake Shore railroad near Clark station, is gradually sinking into a mire near the tracks, and in spite of the efforts of the wrecking crew, the valuable engine may be lost. All that appears above the surface of the earth is the smokestack and the upper part of the boiler. The engine was hauling a freight at a moderate rate of speed when the train ran into ah open switch and the engine and tender rolled over into the ditch. Both the fireman and engineer Jumped when they saw the accident was unaviodable and escaped injury.
