Honor Conferred Upon Him by Logansport Presbytery In Session at LaPorte Tuesday. Rev. J. C. Parrett, pastor of the Presbyterian church of this city, was chosen by the Logansport Presbytery which met at LaPorte Tuesday, as moderator for the ensuing year. The moderator is the presiding officer of the district. He succeeds Dr. J. B. Donaldson, of Laporte. Rev. A. M. Smith, of Rochester, was chosen permanent clerk. The Rev. George A. Pflug of Plymouth and the Rev. H. B. Hostetter of South Bend were elected delegates to the general synod, to be held in Denver. Rev. J. C. Parrett, of Rensselaer, and Rev. E. R. Horton, of Crown Point, were elected alternates. A. D. Bartholomew of Valparaiso and W. M. Fisher of Mishawaka were chosen lay delegates to Denver. Their alternates are L. B. Stevens of Logansport and Arden Hayes of Union Mills. The business of the session Wednesday was devoted to the hearing of reports and the ordination of George E. Parisoe of Chicago to the ministry. He will accept the pastorate of the church at Remington. The next meeting of the presbytery will be held at Plymouth. The honor of Moderator is not often conferred on as young a minister as Rev. Parrett and all of his acquaintances as well as parishioneers in this city are greatly pleased at the honor, which they consider well placed.
