Only Nineteen Passed The Township Examination.
Of the 129 eighth grade or common school pupils who took the examination last month in this county only 19 were successful. This very remarkable condition makes certain that the examinations are too severe, ah impression created upon the writer when he saw the list of questions. There were 110 failures out of 129 who took the examination. The next examination will be held Saturday of this week, April 17th, and those who failed at the previous test or who failed to take the examination at that time, will be entitled to take this one. The examinations which are conducted by teachers selected by Superintendent Lamson, will be held in all townships in the county except Milroy, where there are no candidates. They will be held at the following places: Barkley—Cozy Palace. • • Carpenter—Remington. Gillam—Center. Hanging Grove—McCoysburg. . Jordan—Egypt. Kankakee—Tefft. Keener—DeMotte. Marion—Rensselaer. Milroy—No examination. Newton—Blue Grass. Union—Fair Oaks. Walker —Center. Wheatfield—Wheatfield.
