Tuesday It Rained and Two Counties Went “Wet.’’
Cass county and the city of Logansport and Blackford county and the city of Hartford City went “wet” at the county elections held Tuesday. According to the figures given out from Logansport Tuesday night and which are probably not official, but almost so, the county of Cass gave a “wet” majority of 194 votes. Logansport city gave a majority of 1,421 votes for the saloons, but the out townships almost gave enough the other way to defeat the saloons. In Blackford county the majority if given as 181 in favor of the saloons. There are about 75 saloons in the two counties. It rained about half of the day, and almost a full vote was polled. The campaigning on both sides was very ardent, and at Logansport the women served free sandwiches and coffee and the “wet” men furnished free cigars. The saloons are rejoiced at the victories.
