B. J. Gifford is over from Kankakee today. He is full of railroad vim and says the north work is progressing nicely and that he is planning for the extension south from McCoysburg. Mr. Gifford is looking quite well. . , Harry Wade and wife left this morning for Big Rapids, Mich., for a visit with the family of Chas. Hammond. Harry will take charge of his recently purchased barber shop at Francesville about the first of the conning month. •

H. L. Warne, of Laurens, lowa, who has here for a short visit with relatives, was accompanied to Parr this morning by his sister, Mrs John McClannahan, and they will spend the day with their parents, Mr. and Myr.- T. F. Warne. W. F. Smith, Dr. H. J. Kannal, and Ed and Clyde Randle went to Lafayette today to attend the monthly horse sale. A. L. Padgitt went, down yesterday. He has another car load of horses bn sale this month, which makes the fifth cat he has shipped there and sold this year.

The funeral of the little Turfler baby took place this afternoon instead of tomorrow as Incorrectly stated in yesterday’s paper. Rev. CrumHpker, of Fairbury, a friend of the parents, was asked to come here to conduct the funeral and he was assisted by Dr. Kindig, the pastor of the Methodist church here. Wm. Lewellen packed his shoemaker's outfit and moved it to Otterbein, Tuesday. There was not enough trade hereto justify him to stay. He will not move his family for the present. Mr. Lewellen was not only a good workman, but he is a thoroughly moral man, and one in whom every confidence can be placed —Brook Reporter. - Attorney G. A. Williams "went to Delphi today, having been notified by Judge Wason that the suits which William Nowels of this city filed some seven or eight years ago against the city of Rensselaer for damages he sustained when his horse became frightened at Chas. Robinson’s cow had been set for trial. He found after going over there, however, that the cases will probably not be called. One of these cases was tried seven years ago and resulted in a disagreement. Eleven of the jurors are said to have stood for the city at that time and one for Nowels.
