Mrs. M. D. Gwin’s Sister Will Re-Enter De Pauw.
Mrs. M. D. Gwin’s sister, Miss Virenda Rainier, of Lafayette, who has quite captivated Rensselaer music lovers by her singing, having sung her on several occasions, will re-enter DePauw University on April Ist. Of her the Lafayette Dally Courier says: “Miss Virenda Rainier, who for the past two years has been leading soprano soloist of Trinity M. E. church choir, has tendered her resignation to take effect after March 81, having decided to return to DePauw university to resume her study of voice culture in the conservatory of music under Miss Frances Elizabeth Oldfield, who has recently returned from Europe, where she has concluded a year’s work under Jean de Reske, the famous grand opera singer, regarded as the greatest male vocalist in the world. Miss Rainier has studied at DePauw before and will continue her study where she left off. She has a voice of remarkably fine quality, wide range and flexibility, and her work as i member of Trinity choff has - been very successful. She will be greatly missed by the congregation of that church. She expects to derive much benefit from her work at DePauw. She will leave March 25" for Greencastle. Miss Rainier is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Rainier, of North Sixth street. Her successor in the choir has not yet been selected.
