The Boy’s Party.

One evening a little fellow accustomed to about all the luxuries a boy could have, asked to have a party since it was his birthday. Imagine the astonishment of the mother and other members df the family when his guests arrived, invited by himself, and they were all the “little rag-tags and bobtails” in the neighborhood. His explanation was: “Why, mamma, the boys I play with don’t like parties, and they have everything they want, but these boys never have anything at all.’’ It is but one of the countless things that this child has done with the object of making others happy. He is happy himself, not the best boy by any means, but ope of those little fellows who shows one of the loveliest traits of childhood. How often do parents draw children aside and whisper cautiously, “Don’t play with Mamie, she is not nice.” “Not nice?” echoes the innocents, “why, yes, Indeed, she is nice!” Then an explanation follows about “our social position,” etc. Oh, what a miserable thing to put into the heads of innocent children, a despicable trait so unworthy a woman. It is done, and done every day, and it

tie children who cannot comprehend, and, if ever they do, it leaves the everlasting scar. Do not be one among the many to make a little child, no difference who he is, feel that he is an object of your scorn, or something of such low origin or parentage that you or your children must not come in contact with him. There are occasions when the drawing line is an absolute necessity, but know just how to do It, and never in a manner to show your Intention. White lies are permissable when it corned to saving the tender heart of a little child, but there is no necessity for white lies. You can go through life and have a kind word for every child you meet, and if you do not gather the “rag-tags and bobtails" In at your parties, at least remember each is what you were at one time — a child with a heart, soul and conscience.
