MAKING PLANS TO HOLD ELECTION.

Superintendent of the Anti-Saloon League Will Be Here Friday, ' March 26th. Jasper county temperance workers are planning to have the retail liquor question submitted to a county vote, and the organization which is a preliminary step to the circulating of a petition asking the commissioners to set a date for holding an election will be instituted this week. George E. Hicks, superintendent of the Anti-Saloon League of Indiana, has written to Rev. Geo. H. Clarke, of the Christian church, urging that the county proceed at once to organize, and stating that he can come here on Friday, March 26th, and advise with the leaders about the work. Rev. Hicks suggests that a mass convention be called in Rensselaer right away, and that plans be taken to organize the county first by precincts, having every precinct in the county represented. At the mass convention a temporary county chairman could be selected and at the regular convention held probably on the date of Superintendent Hicks’ visit, the permanent county officers could be selected. They will consist of a chairman, vicechairman, secretary and treasurer. Rev. Clarke has conferred with Attorney S. C. Irwin about the matter and immediate action will be taken. The petitions asking for the election will be started simultaneously in every voting precinct in the county.
