John Bruner, who came from Bartlesville, Okla., as soon as he learned of the sleet damage to his telephone lines, has made commendable haste in getting them into working order and the final connections with the city exchange were completed Saturday night. In getting the lines into shape and in hauling and erecting the poles Mr. Bruner was assisted by a number of farmers who are subscribers to his service. He has 145 phones, extending north and northwest of town. He left Sunday for his home in Bartlesville, where himself and wife are running a large rooming house. His son Earl, who has been working at Mt. Ayr, Is now In charge of the Bruner lines, having succeeded Frank Bruner, the former manager, who is now working for the Jasper County. Company. The Jasper County Co. has been busy in putting the city lines into shape, but are doing considerable work In the country also.
