Wants a Saloon License.
Albert Konovsky, of DeMotte, wants a license to conduct a saloon, and 1 is giving notice through the columns of the Kankakee Valley Review. i Konovsky» bought the Granger saloon at DeMotte about three months before a successful remonstrance was filed In Keener township, and' since that time he has been engaged in the restaurant business. He is said to be a good citizen, but the attack of the temperance people Is on the business and not on the man and It is probable that the good people of Keener will at once start out a re-! monstrance to keep saloons out of DeMotte. And it is also probable that this will precipitate a county election so that the question can be settled without delay and thus save the annoyance oC frequent remonstrance. Should the people of Keene* fall to defeat the Konovsky petition by remonstrance and should a petition for a county election be filed with the commissioners the first of April, It would be a month before an election could be held and the saloon would run for 90 days after the election, even though it was suocessful. . . _ In the meantime some one will probably make application for a saloon at Tefft. The temperance forces had best get busy in the north end in two ways, by remonstrance, and by petition for a county election.
