Got Away From It.
“My besetting sin was a dreadful temper,” exclaimed a woman one day, "and I never was able to overcome it by my own efforts or suggestions from others until I came in personal contact with a woman whose even temper was like the ‘Balm of Gilead* wherever she happened to go. I looked upon her as I would in a mirror and always saw my ugly, frowning, growling self in comparison to her own beautiful, lovable nature. One day I was thinking of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and I thought of myself, there are 4 two real natures within me, one for good, one for bad,* and the best might just as easily predominate as the worst That very afternoon I was so angry I was ready to fly into a torrent of rage, when I saw her and found her smiling. I overcame my intense anger and I do not think there was ever more rejoicing over one sinner that repented than I experienced in knowing I had conquered myself for once. I will never be the gracious woman my friend Is, but her sweet, noble ways have had their Influence on my life and I know for my benefit” Many of us meet natures just so beautiful, and who can or will deny that they have a lovely influence and an indirect or rather a direct influence upon all lives around us, thus proving the influence one really good woman has among her legion of friends.
