Hypnotist McKnight Is All Right.
McKnight, the hypnotist, had the audience at Ellis’! opera house in s continued} uproar Tuesday night. He had a class of eleven, including several local boys, on the stage, and after placing them under the mesmeric spell he caused them to go through many queer capers. Chase Day and Will Thompson were rival candidates for mayor of Rensselaer, and they were instructed by the hypnotist to step to the front of the stage and proclaim the party principals and present an argument for the votes of the people. Each made an impassioned appeal to the audience for support, Day opposing the saloons and Thompson favoring them. Later) he caused his subjects to engage in a cake walk and to imitate various anfinals. Finally he had them all howling with the tooth ache, and, causing one of them to believe himself to be a detist, he had the teeth of the others pulled. It was a very clever performance and was very much enjoyed by the audience.
