THE NEW CHURCH AT ST. JOSEPH’S
Frank Medland, Logansport, Will Begin Construction Work Without Belay. ;.: v '’ • i The beautiful new church edifice that is to be erected at St. Joseph’s College will greatly beautify tire college grounds and at the same time accomplish! the purpose of relieving a congestion that has existed at the college for some time and make room ■fdr more students and a better system Of the Work of that busy and growing college. The contractor for the erection of the church is Frank Medland, of Logansport, who is now in charge and Whose foreman has already begun preparations for work. Mr. Medland is to furnish but little of the material for the building. He bid for the work and it amounted to $39,100. He expects to employ local machanics to a considerable extent and /it, is probable that a number of Rensselaer men can secure employment from him. A machine for cement mixing will be used and probably 20 or more hands will be employed during the time, that the concrete foundation is being put in. The excavation for the church has already been completed, the crushed rock and sand has been hauled and between 400,000 and 500,000 brick are already on the grounds. The frame work of the church will be steel and by the time the foundation is in the frame work will probably be on the ground.
