Hammond 27—Rensselaer 21.
The Rensselaer high school basket ball team played at Hammond last night, and were defeated in a close and spirited game, by the score of 27-21. In the first half thei Rensselaer boys were handicapped by the strange floor, and two posts on one side of the room, and closed with the score 14-10 in Hammond’s faVor. But in the second half they came back strong and for the greater part of the half outplayed Hammond. In the last few minutes they weakened, and Hammond scored tone f old baskets in quick succession. Capt. Meyers was the star for Rensselaer, scoring three field baskets and 11 foul throws. They were given excellent treatment by the Hammond people and the game was void of any- rough work. The Rensseh er party was composed of the following: Profs. Bradshaw and Dean, Meyers, Gundy, Duvall, Kirk, Ross and Hammond.
