Funeral of Mrs. Mary Borntrager.
The funeral of Mra Mary Borntrager, widow of Chas. Borntrager, was held at St Augustine’s Catholic church on Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock. Burial was made at Mt Calvary cemetery; south of St Joseph’s college. Mrs. Borntrager died Sunday at 2 o’clock at St Joseph’s hospital/ in Fort Wayne, after a brief sickness. An obstruction of the bowels and other complications was the cause of sickness and with the hope of saving her life an operation was performed last Saturday night at 10 o’clock. Joseph and George Borntrager of this place, hastened to the bedside of their mother as soon as they were notified | of the seriousness of her condition, 1 but they did not reach there until after her death. Joseph returned here and arranged tor the funeral and burial and George and Frank and wife and Miss Annetta came through with the corpse, which arrived at 9:65 Wednesday morning. When it was found that Mrs. Borntrager would have to submit to an i operation every effort was made to notify the sons in this county, but as there to no night telegraph office ‘ here and all the telephone wires were down word could not be delive ted to them in time to allow them to get to Fort Wayne before death occurred. Mrs. Borntrager was conscious until noon Sunday, but Joseph and George did not arrive there until about 6 o’clock, while John did not get word in time to go. band about 6 years ago she moved to Ft Wayne, where she has since resided with her daughter, Annetta. Five children survive her, as follows: Joseph, George and John, of this county, and Frank and Annetta, of Fort Wayne.
