Uncle Jimmy Overton was here a few days this week. Mrs. Reed McCoy has been on the sick list again this Week. Mrs. Anna Warner is visiting at Simon Cook’s this week. Chas. Tubbs has moved from the old Bally farm to a farm southeast of Rensselaer. Miss Kate Maxwell attended her brother John’s sale in Barkley, Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. James Lefler and G. C. Petree visited at C. A Defier’s Saturday night and Sunday. - Hazel Drake went to Monon Tuesday evening for a few days’ sojourn with friends and relatives. Whooping cough is quite prevalent in Hanging Grove at this writing, not any of the “cases being very dangerous, however. Mr. and Mrs. John Moraitz returned Wednesday evening from a few days’ visit with relatives near Francesville. Roads were almost impassible in a number of places Tuesday and Wednesday, especially where the grades were worked last fall. Miss Lucy Beasley visited over Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Ford and family, returning to TieF school work at Rensselaer, Monday. morning. Chas. E. Peregrine left here Tuesday sor 4 Mitchell, S. Dak., where he has secured employment of D. W. Reed for the ensuing year. Chas. went through with Mr. Shesler’s goods, of near Pleasant Ridge. Nate Eldridge and family, of Parr, have , moved to McOoysburg and will occupy one of the vacant houses' on south side of the city. Mr. Eldridge will work on Mr. Moffitt’s dredge, which they will start to building soon. Most of the dredge material came in on the local freight Wednesday evening. Bob Drake’s feed yard has been thronged with crows for several days, so much so, that Bob had sought revenge of some nature, so Wednesday he armed himself with a shotgun and stole quietly down the opposite side of some fodder shocks until in good gun shot of 6 or 6 of the blackfeathered intruders. He took extra good aim to make sure ,of at least two birds, but the gun was not loaded and the crows talked on. how good Drake's corn was.
