A Mammoth Ditch Petition
The Republican office has Just completed the printing of the notices which will be used in serving the resident land owners of the filing of a petition for the deepening and straightening of the Iroquois according to the petition of Joseph Halilgan and others. The list of resident land owners, which is supposed'to include all those who are affected residing in Jasper, White and Newton counties, Is a large one, something like 2,000 names being included, and making a notice size of one page of a six column news paper, For convenience the names are clustered in paragraphs according to townships, and are in alphabetical order. The notice was prepared by Oeo. A. Williams, attorney for the petitioners. Another notice, which will be published in the newspapers, will oontain the names of the non-resi-dents. It will not be so long as the resident notice but will take considerable space in a paper. The notices will be served, it is understood, largely by the petitioners, In order to expedite time, and to save expense, t potatoes are retailing at SI.OO per bushel in Chicago, yon oan get them at Rhoades’ grocery for 80 amts. - ■- - Maines ft Hamilton sell the J.
