George Long, of Wabash, and Vaugh Woodworth, of Purdue, came home yesterday for a short visit with their 'parents here. Mr. and Mrs. Delos Coen will come down from Chicago this evening to be present at the Porter-Mills wedding tomorrow. Geo. E. Hershman, of Grown Point, arrived in Rensselaer this morning to remain over Sunday. His wife has been visiting at the home of Smith Newell tot the past week. Miss Ethel Chase, of Chicago, is the guest of Miss Mary Porter, having come to attend the wedding Sunday of Miss Doris Porter to Mr. Emery Milis. Fourteen families from Brookston and vicinity were on the 9:55 train this morning enroute to North Dakota, where they will make their future home.
William and Martin Jung'es returned to their home at Orland, 111., this morning, after a ten days’ visit with their uncle, Michael Jungles and family, n,ear Kniman. Mrs. Jessie Haffner, of Arabee, lowa, arrived here last evening for a visit of a few weeks with her mother, Mrs. W. H. Stephenson and her sister, Mrs. W. F. Frye. Mrs. L. J. Lane is reported to be in a dying condition in Chicago, and a telegram received by her husband this morning indicates that there is no chance of her recovery. ” Mr. Lane went to Chicago this afternoon. Mrs. Ella N. Drybread, who has been spending the past few weeks with her brother, Rev. H. L. Kindig, in this city, and another brother in Chicago, left this morning for her home in Edinburg. Amos F. Shesler was delayed just a week in making his removal to South Dakota, by reason of the bad weather, and now .expects to load his household goods at Pleasant Ridge next Monday and Tuesday. The D. A. R. meeting previously announced to be held with Mrs. R. D. Thompson on next Monday, Feb. 22d, will be held instead with Mrs. J. H. Chapman, owing to the sickness of Mrs. Thompson. Willie, the 4-year-old son of Tul Malone, residing on Cullen street, fractured his right collar bone by falling from a couch at his home. Prompt treatment by the family physician is bringing the little chap around all right. Jim Ralnford, the Pleasant Grove section foreman, is suffering from a badly Infected hand, and came to Rensselaer today to have It treated. He will probably get well now, although the infection had made sufflcent headway to be quite alarming. Mrs. George Barcus, of Wabash, came this morning to attend the funeral of Mrs. Judson Perkins, with whom she was a friend of many yeaig standing. Mr. Barcus will arrive tomorrow, and they will return home Monday or Tuesday. Levi Renlcker arrived home yesterday from Florida, where he has been for several weeks. He read the item In the Republican about the jay bird’s nest and thought real spring was here. But he reached Indiana Just in time to see It covered with snow and wrecked by sleet Gaylord Parker, son of Trustee Parker, of Hanging Grove township, was thrown from a horse a few days ago, and In lighting Buffered a severe sprain vof his left ankle, and also sustained a bump to his bead that oknorft rendered him unconscious. Harvey Lawman has arrived from Amboy with a fine Percheron stallion, which nc bought from the Ash Grove Importing Co., and which he will make the 1909 season with In this county, later announcing his dates and stands through this paper.
