Commercial Club Directors Determine On Plan to Raise Money With Small Delay for Immediate Use.
The directors of the Rensselaer Commercial Club held a meeting in the First National Bank Saurday iiighlj and discussed various matters of Importance to the city. It was a wholesome meeting, seven of the directors being present and all entering enthusiastically into the discussion of the affairs of the club and the future welfare of the city. The factory securing project was, of course, the unstops were taken to hasten the accusteps were taken to hasen the accumulation of money with which to secure the location of factories. With the end In view of getting money within a Bhort time, the following motion was made and unanimously carried: "It Is hereby ordered that & discount of |2O per lot be given to all purchasers who pay the full purchase price and further that & proprtionate discount be given for all advance payments; conditioned that this option shall be availed of not later than March 10th, 1909." Several members of the commercial club and others have signified their desire to pay for the lots cash, thus avoiding the trouble of having a debt hanging over them for three years and giving the commercial club the money with which to do business at the outset The discount of 920 on each lot will prove attractive and Is a little more than 7 per cent tor the average time. Several of the directors signified their intention of paying for their lots on this basis. As the first monthly payments on the lots are payable between the Ist
and 10th of March the directors determined to offer the discount during this period. Purchasers can make such advance payments as they wish and will be entitled to a discount based on the discount offered for entire payment The club discussed the continued sale of lots and decided to employ some one to act as a collector and solicitor as an assistant! to E. L. Hollingsworth, the secretary. The name of the assistant has not yet been announced, but President Robinson and Secretary Hollingsworth will prob ably agree on some one at once and start energetically to work. Various means are to be employed to procure additional aid for the commercial club, and donations will be Solicited, buttons ordered and gold and every progressive means employed for building up a fund. The project to secure the ventilating and heating system is by no means dead, and yet it will take cash and considerable of it before the club will be safe to enter Into an agrement to bring a factory here costing as much money as would be required to handle this company. The directors propose to do all in their power to build up a fund, foster It and secure a first-class factory, and the public should be patient while the work 1b being accomplished. It ie not probable that the dub will be In a position to decide on a factory for five or six months, but the more lot purchasers who pay cash the more money the dub will have at Its disposal and the sooner the factory can be started here.
