Library Paste.

To make library paste, dissolve one ounce of alum in one quart ol water, and when cold add flour enough to make it creamy. Stir in one teaspoonful rosin, two or three cloves and boil to a mush, stirring all the time. This should be put into a jar and kept well covered.
