Mr. and Mrs. Dunham were married here ts 9 years ago and' this la the first child barn to them. They will be remembered as successful teachers in the schools here before their marriage.—Monon News. Undertaker W. J. Wright received a telegram yesterday from Edgerton, Ini, stating that the corpse of the child op William Greenfield would be shipped from there So as to reach here on the 2:01 train today, but it did not come and no further word was received. Mr. Greenfield wes well known as “Uncle Billy” Greenfield and moved from here about two years ago. The public sale of Jas. L. Myers, of Parrwas postponed today on account of the inclement weather. Mr. Meyer is right back with another set of bills which the Republican is printing this afternoon. His new date is Friday, Feb. sth. He has added to his previous list another good horse, another cow, a last fall calf and a. few other things. Phillips and Spitler will be at the points. The weather forecast Is for colder weather Saturday. It began to rain yesterday afternoon and continued all evening and all night, and this morning the rain turned to a soft and mushy snow that melted almost as fast as it fell. Next Tuesday is ground hog day and the bad weather may keep up long enough to make the little varmint prognosticator stay under cover. In this country we are prepared for almost anything in the weather line and we usually get a great variety. F. Richard Schaaf, jr., who was the republican county chairman of Lake county, has, so the Hammond Times says, been determined upon by Congressman Crumpacker fcr postmaster of Hammond, a position that pays $3, 500 a year. Shortly after the election Schaaf was taken sick with typhoid fever and he is still In a Chicago hospital. During his sicknevs his friends prevailed on Congressman Crumpacker to make the appointment, and it is apparently a very popular one.

The body of the child of Mr. and Mrs. William Greenfield arrived heie from Edgerton, Ind., on the milk train Friday evening, the parents accompanying It. The body was t; k n to the home of Mrs. Capitola Ramey. The funeral is being held this afternoon. Randolph and Noble counties, the two in which local option elections were held Friday, went dry, putting twenty-two ealoons out of busltißes. Randolph county went dry by 2,470 votes and Noble, by 674. The nine counties In whleh local option elections were held in the past two weeks went dry. There will be eight more elections the coming week. * Earl Clouse bought Dr. Hanneon’a trick , horse Thursday and brought him over from Moson Friday, arriving before the blizzard struck this section. The horse Is 6 years old and Is a very bright animal and performs some remarkable feats of animal Intelligence. Earl Is apt to break Into the Bhow business and do the carnival circuit the coming year. Job Harrison, an old Rensselaer hoy who has been at Rock Lake, N. Dak., for some years, is in both the photograph and land sale business. B. F. Ferguson has a dozen large pictures Job took of farm and country scenes near his home, and they efauw the magnitude of Dakota fanning. Job Is a bustler and has been there long enough to be familiar with the beat land values and he Is an occasional advertiser In the Republican, trying to interest Jasper county people In that country.
