Save the Lakes from Corporation Greed.

Indiana is noted for some of its beautiful lakes and health resorts, it is to these lakes that thousands of people, worn out by the grind of greedy commercialism, flock each ye n r to be refreshed by the pure, beautiful, and inspiring havens of rest which have been left by nature. These lakes prdvide a place where people can enjoy to the fullest extent some of God’s blessings and be reminded that there Is another deity besides the Almighty Dollar to which have daily sacrificed the lives of hundreds of mothers and children. There are men who are degenerate enough that, for the gain of a few cents, would destroy the me st magnificent sceneries of these men that the people in their own honor must fight until they win. i At the present time Indiana’s largest and handsomest lake, Lake Wawasee, is in dangre of being forever ruined by the Sandusky Portland Cement Co., a foreign corporation that cares nothing for Indiana, except the dollars it can get out of it Lake Wawasee is an unusually charming lake. It contains 3600 acres, its water is pure, e’ear and clean and is supplied mainly by subte r.anen springs. It is stocked with fish, by the United States Governmnet. Its depth is from 21 to 69 feet. It is equipped with scores of steamers, launches and the lake is lined with beautiful hotels. Religious services I are held every Sunday in a fine chapel. Bordering the lake is a large tract where 'he Lutheran Evangelical Society hold their annual meetings. But because this lake contains marl which can be secured so the cement company can save ab-.vt five cents a barrel, the Sandusky Cement Co. is intending to ruin this lake. A bill will be introduced in the state legislature, which will protect all lakes containing over 2,000 acres from greedy persons and corporations. There are only three such lakes in the state. The bill should be passed. Everyone who learns of this matter should write his repi esentative or the governor to use his influence to save Indiana’s beautiful scenery from ruination by dollar-worshipping men.
