High School.

The R. H. S. Science Club met in the library auditorium Thuisday evening, Jan. 21st The following program was rendered: Call to order, President. Minutes, Secretary. Scientific Events, Hazel Hurd. Origin of coal, Omar Osborne. Uses of coal, Nell Meyers. Music, Martha Long. Music, Male Quartet . Carnivorous Plants. Helen Meade". Recitation, Mary Pierce. The program was adjourned and the social committee, Mr. Tillman, Blanche Babcock and Helen Murray, furnished entertainment for t'he club. Games were played, prizes awa r d d and then refreshments were tewed. The entertainment commit* ea was Gladys Warren, Mary Pierce, Be tha Kepner, Clarence Smith and Hally Alter. The basket ball team and those going to attend the game, departed on the 2:01 train Friday. Tne muse period and recess were omitted so school might be dismissed early. Miss Stockbridge was . absent Friday on account of sickness. Ponna Myers, from Hebron, was enrolled in the Sophomore room this week. Few changes were made in the program for the new semester. As usual, the Seniors completed the H. S. English course and began arithmetic. The other changes aie but temporary. Several from the high school attended the seventh grade recital at the library Friday afternoon, and enjoyed it very much. Wallace, the 3-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. 0. A. Jacks, of Lee, whose sickness and operation was mentioned in this paper last week, died Sunday and the funeral took place this Monday afternoon. Two operations were performed and surgeons found it Impossible to save the life of the little sufferer. He was brought home Thursday in an unconscious condition and sank away until the end. Mr. and Mrs. True D. Woodworth are attending the funeral. Another petition for the drainage pf the lower Iroquois is being circulated and liberally signed. This one will be beaded off by Joseph Bomtrager. It will probably not be filed for a week or ten days, and may be too late for any action at the cpming term of court.
