House Hits Powder Trust.

Representative William E. Cox, of Indiana, secured the passage of a bill Wednesday in the House of Representatives providing that the government shall buy no more powder from the powder trust Efforts heretofore to secure such legislation proved futile, but Mr. Cox succeeded in spite of the parliamentary tactics to frustrate his efforts. His bill was passed by a vote of two to ope., His contention was that the government is prosecuting the trust for criminal conspiracy in restraint of trade and that it should not lend its financial support to criminals. He showed that the trust was getting an unfair profit for Its powder. The bill now goes to the Senate, of which Senator DePont, head of the powder trust, Is a member.
