VERNE MARSHALL NOW A BENEDICT
Former Rensselaer Youth is Married at Medford, Oregon, and Goes to Seattle, Wash. s to Live.
Vernon B. Marshall, son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Marshall, and who preceded them to Medford, Oreg., a few weeks, was married Jan. 6th to Miss Ruth Brown, of Medford. Of the marriage, the Medford Daily Tribune says: “Verne Marshall and Miss Ruth Brown of this city were married on Wednesday afternoon in Jacksonville by Jtidge H. K. Hanna of the Circuit Court, and in the evening hied away to Seattle, where the groom has secured a position in a job printing office. None of the many friends of the young couple knew anything of their intention, and the news that they were married came as a great surprise. “Mr. Marshall has for some time been employed in the job printing department of the Tribune. On Wednesday morning he resigned his place, saying that he had secured a posi-
tion in Seattle, Wash., and would leave on No. 16 for the north. For some time he has been paying attention to Miss Brown, and some of the boys joshingly asked him after he quit if he would take her with him. He replied “no” to all of their inquiries, however, but during the afternoon Miss Brown and he visited Jacksonville, secured a license* and were married. “Miss Brown has long been known as a popular member of Medford’s younger set, and the news of her marriage comes with a great deal of surprise. “The well wishes of the community follow the young people and although they escaped the congratulations of their friends, they will be forwarded to Seattle. “The wedding license gives the age of the bride as 18 and that of the groom as 22.”
