C. B. Steward Elected Truant Officer

Nine republicans and six democrats, composing the county board of education, met at the county superintendent's office yesterday and proceeded to elect a democratic truant officer. All of tbe trustees were on band and Dr. English represented the Rensselaer school board and George 0. Stemble the Wheatfield school board. The Remington school board was not represented. There were three candidates, via J. 0. Porter and Dr. A, Q. Catt, republicans, and C. B. Steward, democrat. The republicans let the democrats outgeneral them and Steward was elected, the rote standing 8 to 7, in his favor.
