“Tutti Salvi, Giuseppe.”

Those were the words used by Joseph Tripodi, of St. Eufemia, Italy, in informing his brother, Prof. Vincent Tripodi, of Montlcello, that his family had escaped injury in tbe recent earthquake. Translated, tbe words are “All safe, Joseph." The message was sent from Giolatura, Italy, which is several miles up tbe hills from SL-Eufamia, where they lived at the time of the disaster. It is inferred that they had left because they feared further seismic disturbances. When the glad tidings reached Mr. Tripodi he was planning to start at once for his old home to ascertain if the family safe. It would have required 10 days for him to have reached SL Eufemia, He has postponed going until he receives further word from his folks. The Montlcello Herald says: “This was the Tripodi family's fourth experience with earthquakes, their home having been destroyed three times before. Prof. Tripodi himself was born during an quake but was fortunate enough to be away from home at the time of the other visitations. One of his brothers was bom under similar conditions.” **
