To Shorten Court Proceedings.

Representative A. M. Gardner, of Richmond, will at the coming ses-ion of the Legislature present a bill d-> slgned to hasten Jury decisions. The bill, which was suggested by members pf the Wayne dounty bar, states that on retiring for deliberation the Jury may take with it the court’s instructions, which action under the prevailing statute is prohibited. It is asserted that if the Jury is permitted to carry the court’s instructions with It -many of the deadlocks over disputed points may be dohtf away with. This would be in line with President-elect Taft’s expressed wish that court proceedings may be expedited, and the bl 1 is said to meet the views of many of tbe lawyers in tbe assembly.
