A Letter From S. P. Thompson.
Sanßernardino, Calif. Dear Republican: As our old friends and neighbors may have a curiosity to know how we are getting along, 1 will write a few words to you. We occupy apartment C on the Santo Fe limited and being four hours late stopped off here. The weather was pleasant all the way but there was snow on the ground in Arizona. At Albergrangne, Ha ry Lee and wife came on board and we had a nice visit. His father used to .live where the late Alfred McCoy residence now is and all our early citizens knew him. W. D. (Daily) Lee. He is sick at Ocean Beach, Cal., and his son was on the road to his bed-side. On yesterday we called on Dr. Wesley Thompson, who joined the army at Rensselaer in 1863 and is a brother of Mrs. Sarah A. Hemphill of our city. His wife went with us to church. They have a family of six—three married and three at home. This is a nice city but we will go today, to Los Angeles, where our address will for the present be 128 West 28th street, and at which we will ba glad to receive and read your SemiWeekly until further notice. My wife has stood the trip very well and we hope next spring to see and greet you with more than usual good cheer. S. P. THOMPSON. San Bernardino, Cal. December 21st, 1908.
