BASKET BALL SEASON OPENS
School Quintette Will Meet Franklin College at the Armory Saturday Evening. ~
Ross Dean, manager of the athletic association, received a telegram Tuesday from Frank Selleck, manager of the Franklin college basket ball teattn, who sought to make arrangements for a game of basket ball, and after some scouting around Mr. Dean decided to take the game on. Franklin has been spending the holiday vacation touring the state with its basket ball team, and games are being played this week with Rochester, Huntington, Marion and other high schools, the college concluding the week here Saturday night Mr. Dean is acquainted with Mr.
Selleck, and on that account the latter offered to bring the team here for the only open date they had. The local five have been»practicing for several weeks, but this is the first game they have had this season. The team is composed of Meyers, Brenner, Seagrist, Duvall and Kirk, with several substitutes who are showing excellent form. Tickets for the game will be put on sale at once and it is expected that a large crowd will attend the game, which will be played at the armory Saturday night of this week, the game being started at 8 o’clock.
