Frank Kresler returned this afternoon from hie visit to his big farm near Mitchell, S. Dak... ~ Mrs. A. J. Brosier, of Dayton, Ohio, arrived this morning to visit her sister, Mrs. W. L. Myer. The three-year-old daughter of Mrs. Mae Fox Barker suffered the dislocation of the ulna at the wrist of her left arm while at play Sunday. • .. ' W. W. Reeve is now carrying the city mail between the depot and the postoffice, having arranged with Comrade Fox to carry it for six weeks beginning last Friday. Jesse A. Snyder had another quite severe attack of appendicitis last Saturday. He is now somewhat improved, and is planning to go to the hospital to be operated upon.
Mrs. Minerva Wilson and son, Homer, of Kingman, Kans., who have been visiting her brothers, Levi and John Clouse, for the past three weeks, started for their this morning. Mrs. J. L. Hagins is recovering from her recent operation very slowly and today accompanied her daughter, Mrs. E. W. Irwin, to Wolcott, in hopes that the change would prove beneficial to her. C-. C. Carter and wife, of Silver Lake, Ind., who have been, visiting ill Rensselaer, went to Fair Oaks this morning and will visit relatives there and in Newton county before returning to their home.
L A sut brought by the Perpetual Building & Loan Association, of Remington, to foreclose a mortgage on the Stiller property is being tried here today, and several Remington citizens are here as witnesses. *T ——————— Other college students that will soon depart are Wood Spitler, Thompson Ross and Rex Warner for Madison, and Bradley Rom for Boston Technical. Frank McCarthy has already gone to Indianapolis to enter the senior year of the Indiana Medical College. The band members have decided to give another concert Thursday night of this week, the weather being favorable. This will be a treat by the band boys, as they will receive no pay for it. It is possible also that they will give other concerts later if the weather continues good. i W. E. Timmons left this morning for his home in Elk Falls, Kans., after a visit of three weeks with his sister, Mrs. E. J. Morris, and other relatives here. Last week Mr. Timmons and Mrs. Morris visited other brothers and sisters at Plymouth, Frankfort and Otterbeln, and as they went from one place to another they were Joined by other relatives, and when they reached Otterbein they had a good family reunion and a fine time. All the auctioneers within a radius of thirty or forty miles of Kentland {have been asked to come to that city next Saturday and assist in the big horse sale with which the Kentland horse show is to conclude. The auctioneers are to serve without pay, but the horse show and sale 'are not money making matters for the promoters and the auctioneers will have a chance to advertise themselves. Both of our colonels, Fred Phillips and Rus Harmon, have been invited and will probably accept
Prof. E. S. Tillman underwent a successful operation for appendicitis Monday morning at the Francis Willlard hospital in Chicago, to which dty he went last Friday. Mr. Tillman suffered an attack of appendicitis some years ago and another about two months ago. From the latter he has Improved very slowly and it was decided to forstall another attack by having the operation performed. It is probable that be will be able to leave the hospital within fifteen days but he will hard- | ly resume hla school work before a month. The other high school teachers have arranged their work so that! they are also doing the work of Mr. Tillman during his absence. Mrs. Tillman will go to Chicago the latter part of this week to be with him a few days. Born, Wednesday, Sept. IS, to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Oollina, a son.
