Monon Bridge Work Started.

The Monon Thursday began the work of construction on the fine new bascule bridge which Is to be built over the Calumet river at Hammond. The first work is the banking of 800 car loads of sand from Munster which is to be deposited east of the present tracks and will make the roadbed for tracks and the approach for the new bridge. The bascule bridge is to be run by electricity and will be the most modem which can be built It will not be built in the place of an old bridge, but will be constructed Beveral rods east of present span.
