Stomach Pump Rescues Baby.

Francis, the three and one-half years old son of Dr. and Mrs. F. A. Turfler, had a close call Monday evening between five and six o'clock, having eaten several bichloride of mercury tablets. Dr. Turfler kept several of these tablets at his home, using them as a dis-infectant, and they were in a bottle in his secretary. Mrs. Turfler was writing at the secretary when called to the telephone and she was gone but a moment When she returned the boy met her in the hall and had the bottle in his hands and was spitting and making a terrible fuss. Mrs. Turfler at once summoned her husband, who called another doctor and they at once set to work with a stomach pump and shortly had the little fellow out of danger. They also gave him cold cream to drink and gave him a dose of castor oil.

On Tuesday morning he was entirely out of danger, although quite weakened from his experience. His mouth was also quite badly burned. It is thought that he had eaten several of the tablets, and he was rescued only by the prompt discovery and treatment.
