Proceedings of City Council.
At the city council meeting Monday evening the matter of the tax levy was discussed but no action was taken. The school board needs mor* money and the school levy will probably be raised 10 cents. The city levies will probably be fixed the same as last year. The ' treasurer’s report for the month ending August 31st shows funds on hand as follows: Corporation $49.23; water, $1,600.73; electric $2,588; road, $459.72. A petition of Joseph Sharp et al for an extension of the water mats was referred to the Iglht and water committee. A resolution was adopted for a sidewalk on Cedar street, also for the College avenue sidewalk to St. Joe- . eph’s college. The assessments for the Dayton and Weston street improvements were adopted. ... .
