Miss Evalyn O’Connor visited last week with relatives in Chicago. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Lucas, of Fowler, Sept 3, a daughter. Wm. Smalley has returned to Pupdue to take up his studies again. David Foster has returned to St, Louis after an extended visit at home* Miss Helen O’Dell visited relatives at Greencastle several days last week. Mr. Chas. Bonner, of Florida, is the guest of his cousin, Mrs. Hitchcock. Mattie Reeves, of Oxford, is making her home with her brother Charles and attending school. ~ Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pample have been visiting relatives In Chicago and Laporte the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Capes, of Jennings county, have been visiting relatives here the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Cochrane, of Topeka, Kans., spent last week the guests at Mr. and Mrs. Hartley Church. nf Mrs. A. J. Brooks visited her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Lucas and family, at Fowler, several days last week, Mts. Wdsi^ been virtting her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Nelson and son Paul, the past two weeks. Chas. May, Frank Holser, Frank Jordan, Claude Maxwell and C. A Bonner were state fair. visitors last week. ■ ; ■ L Miss Twonette Parker returned to St Louis, after spending the summer with her sister, Mrs. Hartley Church and family.
Mrs. Minnie McCoy, of Battle Ground, was called here last week by the sickness of her. mother, Mrs. Edward Culp. Prof. H. Burgess, of Crawfordsville, and Miss Edith Hearing came last week to take charge of their school work Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dodge, Mr. John Teeter, Mrs. Jacob Hensler and Charles Hensler attended the state fair at Indianapolis. Misses Maude Ritenour, Lula Gray and Mrs. Chas. Scarlet and daughter Flossie visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gray at Streator, 111., the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ott, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Dye, Mr. and Mrs. John Forrey, Henry Miller, daughter Della and son Harry, attended the state fair at Indianapolis last week. At the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Crabb on Wednesday evening of last week occurred the wedding of their daughter, Miss Ethel, to Mr. Frank Pample, Rev. R. H. Crowder performed the ceremony. The schools of Carpenter township opened Monday with the following teachers in charge: No. 1, X- W. Thomas ; 2, Frances Yeoman; 3, Lena Williamson; 5, Nellie Eck; 6, Laura Warnock; 7, Fay Irwin; 8, Catharine Hartman; 11, Florence Warnock; 12, Vietta Rowland. --- Mrs. Frank Weber, Anna and Nellie Weber, Elsie Brinkman, of Graymont, LU., Mrs. C. L. Phillips, Walter Crabb, Mrs Archie Crabb, of Chenoa, Mrs. Proscel, of Pontiac, 111., Earl Baxter, Arkansas City, Kans., Mrs. Joseph Beck, Odell, 111., and Ora Crow, Laporte, Ind., attended the CrabbPample wedding and visited relatives here last week.
