School opened Monday with Thoa. Cowger, teacher. Asa Helman Is visiting relatives in Tipton county. . ... _- r.: 0. A. Jacks and wife spent Thursday at the Lafayette fair. Mr. and Mrs. 8. M. Jacks spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Will Rlshling. Dr. Daniels and wife of Monon attended league Sunday eve and gave a good talk. Orvll Holman and Glen Culp visited George Holmans* near Monticello Friday. _ Mrs. Clarence Carrothers and two children from Illinois visited relatives here last week. Grandma Mellender and Mrs. Kate Holman spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Williamson. Miss Arty Gilmore went to Brookston Saturday and will teach a school about 10 miles west of that place. Mrs. Will Noland spent a few days last week at het daughter’s, Mrs. Worden Donaldson, east of Monon, and helped care for the baby girl that arrived last Friday. Arthur Parcel, Tom Spencer and Mahlon Lamport returned Monday from their trip to Texas. Mb Spencer traded for a section and the others have a trade in view. They were well pleased with the country. One of D. E. Noland’s children has taken the scarlet fever, which was brought to their place by their cousin Miss Whittaker, of Hammond. It is believed the contagion will spread no farther as Mr. Noland has taken steps to prevent it. _ D. E. Noland returned from conference Monday. He was appointed ! to a charge at Mt Ayr. He reports that Rev. Simonson has been returned to the Barkley circuit Mr. Noland had arranged to move to Mt. Ayr at once but did not know that one of the family had scarlet fever until he returned home. He is staying aloof from the contagion so that he may fill his appointment
