Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 41, Number 1, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 11 September 1908 — Reynolds Now a Dry Town. [ARTICLE]
Reynolds Now a Dry Town.
The last saloon in Reynolds closed its doors Saturday night and the town that was supposed to he the most hopelessly saloon ridden town In the county is now “dry.” The supply of "booze” gave out early in the evening and many, of the chronic bisters who had sought the town for a supply of the favorite tipple were compelled to go home thirsty. -
The closing of this saloon will be a blessing to many men in and around Monticello whose hard earned money went into its tills to the detriment of their bodily needs and the wants of their families. This leaves the one saloon in Monon the only one In White .county and It will be closed In December, leaving the county without a saloon. With a county remonstrance the saloons in Logansport, Delphi, and Lafayette can be closed surrounding Monticello with a "dry” territory.. The majority of the people in the counties in which those cities are located are In favor of no saloons but under the present remonstrance law the minority crowd In the saloon to the detriment of the entire community. ■ Fresh Fish Friday.
