SPITLER-COEN WEDDING
The marriage of Miss Mildred E. Spitler and Delos Marquis Coen took place at the home of the bride’s parents, on Cullen street, at eight o’clock Tuesday, in the presence of about one hundred and thirty friends and relatives. The home was beautifully decorated with pink and white fall roses, smilax, ferns and palms. As an introduction to the ceremony, Miss Ruby Abbott sang, “Loves Coronation”. She was accompanied by Mrs. Delos Thompson. Immediately following this Misses Ellis Abbott, Ruey Burnham, Lillian Sparkling, Helen Hawks, Grace Crowell, Florence Abbott, Doris Porter and Ruby Abbott marched into the rooms, bearing white ribbons, and formed an aisle from the stairway to the alter. ....
Mrs< Thompson then played Mendelsohn’s wedding march, during which performance, Miss Elizabeth Spitler, a sister of the bride, who acted as maid of honor, and who wes attired In pink, silk muslin, and carried a sheaf boquat of pink roses, preceded the bride, who was conducted to the alter by her father, where she was met by the groom who received her from her father's hand. The bride’s dress was of white embroidered chiffon, trimmed in lace; she wore a bridal veil and carried a shower boquet of lillies of the valley. The Rev. H. M. Appleby, uncle of the bride, pronounced the ceremony and a prayer was offered by Rev. Jesse L. Brady 4 uncle of the groom. " -During the ceremony and prayer, Mrs. Thompson softly played Wagner’s Lohengrin. After congratulations, refreshments were served in the dining room. The favors consisted of heartshaped, hand-painted boxes, which were designed and painted by the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Coen left town on the eleven o'clock train, being escorted to the station by a large number of young people who liberally showered them with rice and decorated them with hearts.
