Ross Dean Declined Offer of South American Trip.
Prof. Ross Dean, instructor of history in the Rensselaer high school, and a native Jasper County boy, had an opportunity just offered him to spend several months thiß fall and during the early part of winter in South America, as an assistant to Dr. Eigenmann, head of the department of zoology in the Indiana State University. Dr. Eigenmann will go to Guinas, in South America, about September Ist and will remain until Christmas, devoting his time to zoological research work and he has the selection of his own assistant, and he offered the opportunity to Mr. Dean because he recognized in him an industrous and thorough student. Ross was attending the summer school at Winona when the offer came to him, and he at once came home tCL. talk the proposition over with his parents, and the decision was reached to decline the offer. Ross has specialized along the line of history and is again engaged to teach that branch in Rensselaer and he thought it would be better for him not to branch off into other special tdfcics. But he was very much elated that the offer came to him and he is declining it with many reglrets, for it would have been a very valuable experience for him.
