Gifford Railroad Notes.

Lowell Souvenir. We are Informed that B. J. Gifford who baa been dickering for right-of-way through the Hogan farm for over a year, has closed the deal wherein the Hogan heirs will receive $1,500, the price they have held for since the first, and work will be resumed at once to extend the line on its northward course. Mr. BenJ. Gifford, president and owner of the Gifford railroad, was in Lowell Tucwcy, and with his attorney, 4. W. Belshaw, went over the proposed right-of-way from Dinwiddle to Crown Point Mr. Gifford expressed himself as highly pleased with his prospects, is In good health and financial and has added a new $9,000 steam shovel to his construction equipment and construction work Is in progress. The road will be built to Gary as rapidly as possible. At present there are 41 miles of tbs road built and being operated. Mr. Gifford says that under no circumstances will he tell the road.
