Fire in Hanging Grove Township
The residence of John Knoplnski, who lives about four miles north of McCoysburg In Hanging Grove town- 1 ship, was entirely destroyed by fire' Monday afternoon. The fire was discovered between the .weather bearding about one o’clock and efforts were made to save the building but withont success. Some of thb contents were dragged out of | doors when It was seen that the house was doomed to destruction, but owing to the intense heat they were all destroyed. The origin of the fire is a mystery, as the cooking was done in a building detached from the main residence a, few feet and there had been no fire In the main building tor some time. The kitchen was also deetroyed. The residence was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. John Knoplnski and their son Andrew. The house was a story and a half frame building. Tbe .loss of building and contents amounted to about SI,OOO. Insurance of $250 or S3OO was carried. Among the contents destroyed were relics secured by Mr. Knoplnski while serving in the French and German wars and which money cannot replace. They have already made arrangements to rebuild and tbe eon Andrew was in town yesterday securing lumber and work will commence at once on the new bulling, which will be 16x14 feet, etory and a. ball high.
