CONTRACTS LET FOR REMOVING BRIDGES AND FOR HEATING SYSTEM

Chicago Heights Firm to Remove the Bridges, While Warner Bros. Will Install the Heating Plant

The county commissioners let tbe contract Monday for tbe removal of the Washington street and Creamery bridges in Rensselaer. A number of firms bid on the work, the bids ranging from $1,789 to $792 for the two bridges. The contract was let at the latter figure to Jirtle & Sotnes, of Chicago Heights. - The contract requires the Washington street bridge to be removed within ten days. The contractors will commence work as soon as they can get their tools here. As soon as the bridge Is removed the work of dredging will be resumed. The following were the bids filed: Wiliamac Bridge Co. $1,789.00 Sternberg A Rutherford 895.00 E. G. Warren Jirtle St Somes 792 00 At the same session the contract for a heating plant for the county farm was let to Warner Bros., of Rensselaer, at $1,773.78. The plans call for a hot-water heating plant

Rhoades 1,403.83 496.02 Total $1,889.85. The contract for 350 tons of coal for the county heating plant was let to the Shirley Hill Coal Co. Bids were submitted on three kinds of coal Linton No. 4, re-screened domes'ic lump' at $2.40; Linton No 4 at $2.15, and Linton No. 4 mine run at $1.96. Coen & Brady made a bid for Virginia Smokless, mine run, delivered 'at heating plant for $4.00 per ton or | $3.75 on car. '
