The invitation committee for the be the attraction here the first we:k In September met at the court house this Saturday morning, and Chairman Lucius Strong and Secretary Ira Sigler went after things with a vim. Elder D. T. Halstead brought to the committee the names of 60 former residents and the committee have in other ways secured the addresses of some 1,200 persons who .formerly resided in Rensselaer, or Jasper county. A special invitation will be sent to each of these to come home for the big week. The invitation aa drafted, by the committee reads: Rensselaer, Ind., August 5, 1008. Dear Friend: The citixens ot Rensselaer, Jasper County, Indiana, earnestly request your presence at the home-coming of former residents of the oounty, to be held at Rensselaer, Indiana, September Ist, 2d. 3d, and 4th, 1008. The committee on arrangements have not and will not spare any pains, for entertainment and comfort, making it the most pleasant gathering ever" having occurred in the city. This meeting of old friends will insur 1 this end and will not soon be forgotten. The entertainment committee has Uwen—doing a greet-amount of thinking and have some splendid attractions in consideration. One that has been suggested is a general big basket dinner on the court bouse lawn, with ail persons from a distance as guests. It will be aimed if tbit is made one of the events to have every person in Rensselaer and Jasper county to aid in supplying the monstrous dinner. Possibly tables could be built of planks around the oourt house and 1,600 or. 2,000 people could be seated at one time. This would be a great event and would draw more people tban a barbecue and cost no money except for the 1 erection of the tablee. | The home coming is receiving the enthusiastic support of every one and the free envelopes are being used in almost all correspondence, both social and business. Call at the Re- J publican office or at any of the drug stores and get them. Don't buy en-' velopes during the next three weeks. l Get the home-coming free ones.
