Edna Wood visited last week with friends in Rensselaer. Mrs. Wm. Warren and son Bert returned from Watseka, 111., Monday. There will be preaching at the Christian church at 11 o’clock Sunday.' Chas. Halleck went to Lake Village this week to look after his fruit farm there. Mr. and Mrs. McCullough, of Streator, 111., are visiting with Mrs. Dodge this week. Elmer Moffitt, of Nebraska, is here on account of the serious illness of his mother. Mrs. Isaac Right visited Saturday night In Rensselaer with her niece, Mrs. A. G. Catt Mrs. N. Littlefield, of Rensselaer, visited Thursday and Friday with F. R. Erwin's family. Miss McDonald, of Chicago, came down here Monday to serve as clerk at the pickle factory. A fishing party left here this morning for Dunn’s bridge and will spend a few days boating and fishing. Mrs. Barker, Mrs. Brohard and Mrs. Winslow and cMJdten ruralized on the Kankakee rlvdr i day last week. Mrs. Merrill, of Lebanon, who has been visiting friends here and her son out In the country, returned home this week. Dr. Washburn was in town a day this week consulting with Dr. Fife over the little Whitby boy, who is staying at the hotel here now. There is prospects of an abundant pickle crop here if it jUBt rains occasionally, and the people are careful to get them picked in time. Mrs. Whitby is here at the Cottlngham house taking care of her 1 little boy who has been quite seriously sick from the effects of a nail run into his foot Some of our young people went up to the river Sunday on the milk train but “the power of gravitation” didn’t seem to be very strong up there, so they returned on the 10 o’clock train. Inhabitants were very much excited Monday over the report that a crazy woman was in town and that she carried various weapons such as revolvers, knives, etc., with which she drove several persons up telegraph poles, over fences and Into other places of refuge, but she got out of town without doing any serious damage.
